US Tax Manager

Job Summary:

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and results-oriented Tax Manager to join our team in Raleigh, NC. As a professional self-starter, you will play a critical role in supporting the U.S. tax functions of a premier international waste services provider. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare quarterly tax provisions in accordance with IFRS principles and partner with the accounting team to support accurate financial reporting.

  • Assist in the preparation of corporate federal and state income tax returns, including the calculation of quarterly estimates and annual extensions.

  • Lead tax planning projects and manage tax forecast calculations to optimize the company’s tax position.

  • Prepare comprehensive workpapers to address IRS and state tax audit inquiries.

  • Provide technical tax assistance during M&A activities.

  • Execute internal control procedures, ensuring full compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) key controls.

  • Stay current on international, federal, state, and local tax laws.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the tax department.

Requirements:

  • Certification: CPA designation is required.

  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of tax experience within a public accounting firm or a publicly traded company.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and hands-on experience with professional tax software.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for cross-functional partners.
