Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Transfer Station Laborer to join our team in Ocala, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining facility cleanliness, helping operate on-site street sweepers, controlling litter, and executing general site maintenance to ensure safe and efficient daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Clean-up & Litter Control: Perform general yard clean-up, paper pick-up, and litter control around the transfer station perimeter and operational areas.
  • Equipment & Vehicle Operation: Assist in operating on-site equipment, including street sweepers, pickup trucks, water trucks, mowers, and trimming equipment.
  • Facility Maintenance: Perform general office and yard maintenance, including painting, janitorial duties, mowing, and track cleaning on tracked equipment.
  • Traffic Control: Direct customer and operational traffic at the site as needed to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company, federal, state, and local safety policies and procedures.
  • Additional Duties: Fuel vehicles and equipment, assist team members, and complete other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Safety Compliance: Must meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to company standards.
  • Skills:Ability to follow oral and written instructions with minimal supervision.Basic math, reading, writing, and communication skills.Practical common-sense reasoning to solve routine workplace problems.
  • Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, climb, and balance in an outdoor environment up to 100% of the working shift.Ability to regularly lift/move up to 65 pounds independently and push/move up to 100 pounds with assistance.Good visual acuity (close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception).
  • Working Conditions:Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).Comfortable working around moving mechanical parts, heavy motor vehicle traffic, and high-noise environments.
