Technician, Distillation
Key Responsibilities:
Operation of distillation units
Operation of steam boilers
Operation of cooling tower
Responsible for wastewater facility, boiler water treatment/test
Monitor Air compressors and nitrogen generator
Operate 3 units under normal working conditions during a shift
Monitor pressure and temperatures
Ensure product quality and consistency
Employ good practices to provide good yields and throughputs
Fill and operate stills, vacuum pumps, process pumps; mixing and sampling materials
Loading/unloading bulk tankers, filling drums and containers
In-process sampling and analysis
1st line maintenance
Monitoring process safety and environmental status
Housekeeping
Ensuring safe working practices and following all regulations, policies and procedures
Maintain positive working relationship with all co-workers, management and customers
Some overtime required
Perform other assignments as required.
4th class operating engineer license is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
2-year Chemical Technologist diploma or equivalent experience.
Able to work 3 rotating shifts in an outdoor environment: 6 am - 2 pm, 2 pm - 10 pm, and 10 pm - 6 am.
Must be clean shaven (will have to wear a respirator during certain tasks).
Prior chemical, manufacturing, or production experience is an asset.
Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks
