Technician, Distillation

Key Responsibilities:

• Operation of distillation units

• Operation of steam boilers

• Operation of cooling tower

• Responsible for wastewater facility, boiler water treatment/test

• Monitor Air compressors and nitrogen generator

• Operate 3 units under normal working conditions during a shift

• Monitor pressure and temperatures

• Ensure product quality and consistency

• Employ good practices to provide good yields and throughputs

• Fill and operate stills, vacuum pumps, process pumps; mixing and sampling materials

• Loading/unloading bulk tankers, filling drums and containers

• In-process sampling and analysis

• 1st line maintenance

• Monitoring process safety and environmental status

• Housekeeping

• Ensuring safe working practices and following all regulations, policies and procedures

• Maintain positive working relationship with all co-workers, management and customers

• Some overtime required

• Perform other assignments as required.

• 4th class operating engineer license is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• 2-year Chemical Technologist diploma or equivalent experience.

• Able to work 3 rotating shifts in an outdoor environment: 6 am - 2 pm, 2 pm - 10 pm, and 10 pm - 6 am.

• Must be clean shaven (will have to wear a respirator during certain tasks).

• Prior chemical, manufacturing, or production experience is an asset.

• Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks

• Able to work independently and in a team environment
