Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with area and regional leadership, operations team, and corporate support team (e.g., post-collections management, compliance team) to provide compliance support to landfill operations.
Maintain, update, and ensure regulatory compliance as necessary of internal best practice standards.
Provide support for the completion of tasks related to landfill special projects.
Use Safety Environmental Monitoring System (SEMS) to maintain and track permits, compliance tasks, and related activities.
Coordinate completion of status reports or other reporting of data as required by various operational permits or other regulatory conditions.
Track various permit conditions and regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., solid waste, hazardous waste, NPDES).
Track other regulatory and legal compliance deadlines and obligations for the location.
Support and participate in discussion with applicable regulatory agencies including regulatory inspections and meetings.
Maintain knowledge in, and practice of landfill and transfer station operations and ability to obtain MOLO and wastewater system operator certification.
Track and manage tasks as required and provide internal and external reports (e.g., monthly, quarterly).
Promote and manage the company’s vision with respect to EHS&C standards, behaviors and performance.
Support regulatory monitoring and reporting as needed (e.g., groundwater, air, stormwater, surface water, leachate).
Promote a safety-first culture that supports continuous EHS&C improvement and engage through company-wide programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing.
Demonstrate ability to pay attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy and organization.
Self-motivated with the ability to work with consultants, contractors, regulators, community members, and internal staff.
Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
Advance skills and abilities to create Excel spreadsheets and input and monitor information.
Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize to meet due dates and deadlines.
General knowledge of EPA, state EPA, OSHA, and other applicable related state and federal regulations.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and maintain deadlines.
Approach and complete work in a meticulous, thorough, and timely manner.
Requirements:
4-year college degree or equivalent experience in landfill management preferred
General understanding of regulatory requirements and permit conditions
Physical Demands:
Utilization of standard office equipment
Lifting 50lbs +/-
Working Conditions:
Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions including cold / hot weather, dust.
May be exposed to strong odors, chemicals and refuse.
May be exposed to other risks associated with working around waste, machines, tools, and heavy equipment.
