Position Summary

We are seeking a high-energy, organized, and safety-conscious Shop Foreman to lead our Fort McMurray maintenance team. You will be the primary driver of shop flow, ensuring that our fleet remains compliant, efficient, and ready to meet the demands of our operations. Reporting directly to the Fleet Manager, you will balance administrative oversight with hands-on technical support.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Operations & Workflow

  • Schedule units based on operational priority and assign specific technicians to tasks to maximize shop efficiency.

  • Assist technicians with troubleshooting and repairs as needed to ensure jobs are completed safely and accurately.

  • Ensure all technicians are following established workplans and meeting time-standard expectations.

  • Rigorously enforce the Preventative Maintenance program to ensure long-term fleet health.

  • Proactively update the scheduler with CVIPs, DVIRs, and essential repairs to minimize downtime.

Operational Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Operations team via the fleet email group, providing updates on time-sensitive jobs.

  • Represent the shop at weekly and bi-weekly regional meetings to align shop goals with broader company objectives.

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of work orders and manage all month-end closing processes.

Financial & Inventory Control

  • Track monthly spending on shop supplies, parts, and 3rd party repair services to stay within budgetary targets.

  • Manage parts inventory, assist the Parts Technician when necessary, and maintain strong professional relationships with external vendors.

Safety & Mentorship

  • Lead by example by enforcing shop safety protocols and conducting regular facility inspections.

  • Lead weekly shop safety and "toolbox" meetings to keep the team informed and compliant.

Requirements

  • Valid On-Road Journeyman Ticket.

  • Current CVIP License or willing to obtain certification.

  • Strong familiarity with CVIP and DVIR compliance requirements.

  • Strong Mechanical and troubleshooting abilities on a wide range of machinery and equipment.

  • Class 5 Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract required, 1A or 3A Driver’s License preferred.

  • A "Safety First" mindset with experience leading safety inspections and meetings.

  • Excellent digital communication skills (Fleet management software, email, and scheduling tools).

  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
