Operations Supervisor

GFL Environmental is looking for an Operations Supervisor to join our team in Saskatoon, SK

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of the Company’s transportation requirements and patterns. They will review and process day to day operations that are required by the location.

What You’ll Do:

  • Providing direct supervision of all drivers, ensuring ongoing training requirements, discipline and procedural implementation
  • Working alongside the Operations Manager and the Recruiting Team to maintain adequate staffing levels, including participating in interviews and pre-employment Road Tests
  • Working alongside the Dispatcher daily to ensure routes are completed efficiently and accurately
  • Conducting ongoing observational behaviour assessments/driver training to uncover any performance issues, and creating an action plan to correct
  • Tracking ongoing service/driver issues and documenting any discipline required
  • Attaining all the necessary information regarding any issues by maintaining courteous, prompt and efficient customer relations.
  • Organizing and approving payroll and driver vacation requests
  • Ensuring a healthy and safe working environment for all workers, and reporting any related issues immediately to the Operations Manager
  • Ensuring company policy, systems, and industry related training is delivered to all drivers as needed
  • Performing Accident Investigations when company vehicles are involved in traffic accidents or incidents
  • Other duties as assigned


What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience, ideally with a large team
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with experience working with Residential or Commercial collection, transportation, and/or Operations.
  • General understanding of, WHMIS and the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Proficiency with performing pre- and post-trip inspections, as well as accident investigations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capability to plan, prioritize and execute against tight timelines.
  • Intermediate database, spreadsheet, and word processing skills within a Microsoft environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instruction and procedure manuals, routing reports and correspondence.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.
