Operations Manager- Material Recovery Facility

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of daily plant operations, ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are consistently met
  • Supervise, coach, and support a team of over 100 employees including supervisors and frontline employees
  • Monitor production KPIs, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement process improvements
  • Control labor, maintenance, and inventory costs while maintaining operational excellence
  • Ensure full compliance with Ministry of Labour (MOL), Ministry of Environment (MOE), and internal policies
  • Oversee logistics, scheduling, and load management to maintain service levels and plant efficiency
  • Maintain accurate reporting of production, downtime, and inventory data
  • Foster a strong safety culture and positive working environment focused on accountability and teamwork
  • Identify and support staff development needs through training and performance management

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in operations or plant management, preferably in the recycling or waste management industry
  • A safety-focused leadership style that emphasizes compliance, risk mitigation, and building a strong culture of accountability across all areas of operation.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, solve problems, and drive results in a fast-paced environment
  • Direct experience managing P&L responsibilities and making data-driven financial decisions
  • Knowledge of production systems, material handling, and heavy equipment operation
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations (MOL/MOE)
  • Experience analyzing and acting on operational data and KPIs
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and team-building skills
  • Valid G driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
