Position Overview:
As a Front-end Driver, you will operate front-end collection trucks serving commercial and multi-family residential routes across assigned local areas. You’ll be responsible for safely collecting solid waste or recyclables, operating hydraulic equipment, and transporting loads to designated disposal or transfer sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Route Execution: Safely drive commercial frontload vehicles along assigned local routes to collect solid waste and transport it to post-collection facilities.
Container Handling: Open gates or enclosures and position/roll 3–4 yard containers on castors as needed for dumping.
Vehicle & Safety Checks: Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections daily; submit required reports and logbooks in accordance with company standards and DOT regulations.
Customer & Site Care: Interact courteously with customers and the public; ensure customer sites are left clean by clearing loose debris around containers.
Navigation: Efficiently maneuver trucks in tight or low-clearance spaces using mirrors, GPS, and route guidance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year commercial truck driving experience OR a CDL school certificate.
Note: Prior experience in the waste, refuse, or environmental services industry is highly preferred and considered for top-tier starting pay.
Safety First: Ability to safely maneuver equipment, follow lockout/tagout procedures, and satisfy safety-sensitive function criteria.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit up to 75% of the day while driving.
Ability to repetitively push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs (and occasionally up to 100 lbs or roll containers up to 300 lbs).
Ability to frequently enter/exit the cab, climb to inspect loads, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
