Financial Analyst Job Summary:
The Financial Analyst acts as the bridge between accounting data and strategic business insights. This role ensures the integrity of the General Ledger, optimizes financial reporting systems (TM1), and provides Business Unit (BU) leaders with the clarity needed to drive operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Controllership & Month-End Support: Manage and audit the chart of accounts while overseeing the review and reconciliation of complex GL activity to ensure GAAP compliance.
- Month-End Closing: Design and maintain the monthly accounting closing schedule, ensuring all Business Units meet the required reporting deadlines.
- Quality Assurance: Prepare journal entries and reconciliations, ensuring robust supporting documentation and clear audit trails.
- Performance Consolidation: Consolidate monthly and quarterly financial results across multiple BUs, highlighting key trends and variances.
- Business Partnership: Act as a dedicated finance liaison for Business Unit Managers, translating financial results to support operational decision-making.
- Reporting Architecture: Lead the development of automated, standard, and ad-hoc reporting packages.
- Annual Planning Facilitation: Contribute to the annual budgeting cycle; drive timelines, ensure data integrity, and consolidate inputs into the master budget.
- Forecasting: Maintain and update monthly and quarterly rolling forecasts that incorporate real-time market shifts and operational performance.
- Executive Commentary: Translate complex financial variances into clear narratives for monthly management discussions.
Requirements:
- Education: Business Degree, with a focus in accounting preferred; relevant accounting designation (CPA) or enrolment in program preferred, but not required.
- Experience: 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience, with 1-2 years of advanced experience with financial reporting systems.
- Technical Skills: 1-2 years of experience with TM1 Administration is preferred; high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Advanced Excel).
- Compliance: Strong understanding of GAAP and current accounting practices.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex data into clear narratives and manage both short and long-term accounting projects.
- Physical/Mental Demands: Ability to work in an indoor office environment; includes extended periods of sitting, moderate noise levels, and standard visual requirements for close-up data analysis.
- Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, and ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives
