Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Welder / Fabricator to join our shop. In this role, you will be crucial in keeping our fleet and equipment operational, safe, and ready for service. You’ll perform heavy-duty welding, structural repairs, and custom fabrication on solid waste equipment and vehicles year-round.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Repair & Maintenance: Perform high-quality structural welding and repairs on waste handling equipment, including compactors, roll-off containers, and dumpsters.
  • Vehicle Fabrication: Execute custom fabrication and body repairs on heavy trucks and fleet vehicles.
  • Layout & Prep: Safely perform metal cutting, torching, grinding, fitting, and surface preparation for painting.
  • Safety & Standards: Inspect hand tools, maintain shop safety standards, and keep a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of welding and metal fabrication experience (waste industry or heavy equipment experience is a plus).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MIG, Stick, and torching/cutting processes. Certification in basic welding skills preferred.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Ability to safely operate shop equipment, grinders, and welding tools. Must supply basic personal tools (welding helmet, basic hand wrenches, etc.).
  • Reliability: Strong work ethic, dedication to safety, and ability to meet physical demands (lifting up to 50+ lbs, standing, bending, and stooping).
  • License: Valid driver's license required (CDL is a plus).
