Co-op Project Coordinator

Green for Life (GFL) Environmental Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op Project Coordinator to join our Transformation Office for a 4 month term, starting September 2026.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project and change management within the Environmental Services sector. You will be joining a high-performing team dedicated to supporting company-wide initiatives. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast- paced environment and be a self-starter who can act with minimal direction.

Key Responsibilities:
The Co-op Project Coordinator will support Project and Change Managers in planning, executing, and closing projects, with a strong emphasis on maintaining clear and consistent information flow.
● Proactive Task Management: Independently manage and prioritize a dynamic
workload, identifying next steps and taking initiative to move tasks forward with minimal instruction.
● Project Administration: Assist with the creation, maintenance, and distribution of project documentation, including project charters, status reports and risk/issue logs.
● Scheduling & Tracking: Help monitor project timelines, track progress against milestones, and proactively follow up with team members on outstanding tasks.
● Stakeholder Communication: Draft and edit project-related communications (emails, presentations, newsletters) for various audiences, from technical teams to senior leadership.
● Meeting Management: Schedule project meetings, prepare detailed agendas, and accurately document action items, decisions, and outcomes, ensuring timely distribution.
● Financial Support: Assist with basic budget tracking, expense reconciliation, and processing invoices.
● Data Management: Organize and manage project files on Google Drive or Google Sites to ensure all team members have access to the latest information.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Skills:
● Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program in Project Management, Change Management, Business Administration or a related field

●Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible

●Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex information for non-technical audiences.
● Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Meet, Teams) preferred.
● Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management principles (PMBOK® Guide knowledge is an asset).
● Familiarity with process improvement or change management concepts (e.g., Lean, Agile) is a strong asset.
● Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
● Self-Driven: Proven ability to operate effectively with minimal day-to-day oversight,
demonstrate initiative, and independently pursue solutions and information.
● Adaptability: Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain composure and accuracy in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
● Active Listening: Ability to absorb, interpret, and accurately summarize information from meetings and stakeholder conversations.
● Drafting & Editing: Skill in writing professional, clear, and concise emails and reports.
● Presentation Skills: Comfort in compiling and delivering information during internal
team meetings.
● Conflict Resolution: A professional and proactive approach to managing
communication challenges and escalating issues appropriately.
