Class 1 Swing Driver

GFL Environmental is looking for a Class 1 Swing Driver to join our team in Fort St. John, BC!

In this key role, the Swing Driver will safely operate one or more vehicle types including Roll Off, Front End, Residential and other trucks utilizing various collection methods to service customers in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • Licensing: Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract. 

  • Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial driving experience.

  • Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems. 

  • Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles. 

  • Reliability: Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed. 

  • Physical Fitness: Able to meet the physical demands of the role every shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate GFL vehicles to complete assigned routes. 

  • Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs, paperwork and e-logs. 

  • System Operations: Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage. 

  • Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management. 

  • Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness. 

  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards. 

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with Dispatchers and Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations. 

  • Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
