Class 1/3 Hydrovac Operator

Summary

The Class 1/3 Hydrovac Operator will work with our Acheson GFL Liquids team to provide exceptional service for our clients. Services provided included (but are not limited to) participating in ground disturbance activities with clients, exposing underground utilities, fluid hauling, spill cleanup, line flushing, high-pressure washing, water hauling, and loading and hauling of various fluids/materials. The chosen individual will perform this diverse range of activities with a focus on safety, professionalism, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate hydrovac equipment in an industrial setting.

  • Follow company policies and procedures as well as various on-site Requirements.

  • Provide exceptional service to all clients and professionally represent GFL.

  • Complete daily equipment pre-trips and driver logs required for NSC compliance.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate company documentation to accompany work performed.

  • Maintain equipment and ensure all units and tooling are kept clean, serviced, and in peak operational condition compliant with safety standards. 

  • Demonstrate a commitment to environmental compliance.

  • Participate in safety programs such as safety meetings, near miss reporting and job hazard assessments.

  • Work independently while managing time and productivity and communicating effectively.

  • Other duties as required. 

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of Hydro Vac experience is required.

  • Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a fairly clean Commercial Drivers Abstract is required; Class 1 Driver’s License would be an asset. 

  • Must be able to operate manual transmission.

  • Flexible availability and travel is required. Meals and accommodation will be provided. 

  • Valid safety tickets such as Ground Disturbance Level II, First Aid/CPR, Construction Safety Training (CSTS), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), Fall Arrest and H2S Alive are considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

  • Safety-focused attitude with experience working in an industrial setting.

  • Electronic Logs.

  • Knowledge to perform minor maintenance on units to maintain efficient operation.

  • Possesses cleanliness and organizational skills.

  • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned.

  • Willing to accept after-hour calls when necessary.

  • Able to travel and stay overnight as required. Accommodation and meals provided.
