Chemical Operator, Processing Facilities
Key Responsibilities:
· Go out to clients’ sites to inventory, pack, and remove their chemical wastes.
· Prepare shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for transport.
· Receive all client waste – both bulk liquids/solids and containerized.
· Take samples from waste vehicles and containers for lab analysis.
· Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner.
· Ensure incoming waste conforms with acceptance protocol.
· Ensure safe operation and procedures are always followed.
· Complete paperwork properly & ensure it is submitted.
· Complete job hazard risk assessments
· Ensure superior customer service is provided.
· Notify the Shift Supervisor/General Manager of any defects, damages, mistakes, errors, contamination, spills, other incidents, or accidents that are identified.
· Attend Household Hazardous Waste collection events to identify, classify and separate waste. Prepare necessary waste manifest documents for transport back to Stevenage facility.
· Other tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:
· Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
· Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office suites, emails
· Must be able to work day shift.
· Able to work weekend shifts as needed.
· Degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Environmental Technology, or equivalent.
· Familiarity with waste management regulations, Ontario regulation 347, Transportation of Dangerous Goods is an asset.
· Previous hazardous and non-hazardous waste management experience is an asset.
· Previous experience using various forklifts
· Mechanical aptitude, including knowledge and use of hand tools is an asset
· Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment.
· Must be safety conscious and detail oriented.
· Must be willing and able to report to work clean shaven (respirator safety).
· Ability to follow procedures and execute work with minimal supervision.
· Ability to repetitively lift 40 lbs. above waist.
· Valid G class Driver’s license, with a clean driver abstract.
· Must be able to pass security clearances for government contracts.
