What You’ll Do
Safely operate automatic and manual transmission trucks on assigned collection routes (solid waste, recycling, yard waste)
Swing between different Lines of Business based on needs (residential, Front End, Roll off)
Routes may vary daily based on service needs
Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, daily truck reports, and route documentation
Operate truck and equipment using safe, prescribed techniques
Communicate mechanical issues immediately to the shop and supervisor
Maintain a clean truck (inside and out)
Manage assigned Helper(s), if applicable
Provide professional customer service while on route
Perform extra pick-ups and special service requests as needed
Assist with training new drivers when required
Attend safety and branch meetings
Follow all DOT, federal, state, local, and company safety regulations
Wear required PPE at all times
Report all accidents or incidents immediately
What We’re Looking For
Requirements
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate
Ability to meet safety-sensitive position requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred
Skills & Abilities
Ability to safely maneuver trucks in tight spaces and heavy traffic
Comfortable backing distances of 100+ feet using mirrors
Knowledge of basic truck components and safe operation
Ability to recognize and report unacceptable waste
Strong communication skills
Ability to read route sheets, maps, and service documents
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly (occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance)
Commitment to safety and professionalism
Working Conditions
Outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
Exposure to traffic, noise, fumes, dust, and moving equipment
Sitting approximately 75% of the shift while driving
Physically active position including climbing, bending, lifting, and stepping in/out of the truck throughout the day
