Key Responsibilities
As a CDL Roll-Off Truck Driver at GFL, you will:
Operate roll-off trucks and ancillary equipment to safely collect and transport waste
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintain daily truck reports, route sheets, and other documentation
Immediately communicate any vehicle mechanical issues to your mechanic or supervisor
Maintain route quality and operational standards set by management
Operate equipment using safe driving techniques to prevent mechanical failures
Follow all safety standards, company policies, and federal/state/local regulations, including customer-specific rules
Identify and report potential hazards while serving/picking up containers
Keep your vehicle clean and well-maintained, both inside and out
Promptly report all accidents or incidents to your supervisor
Represent GFL professionally in appearance, demeanor, and customer interactions
Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Maintain accurate records of services performed and work closely with supervisors to improve route efficiency
Attend safety meetings and branch meetings as required
Be willing to work overtime when necessary
Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate
Ability to meet Company standards for safety-sensitive functions
Proven ability to safely operate trucks and associated equipment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to operate a variety of trucks and equipment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Basic math skills for job-related calculations
Ability to complete reports and documentation accurately
Ability to read and understand company policies and procedures
Strong problem-solving and common-sense reasoning
Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision
Physical & Mental Demands
Sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell as required
Visual skills including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs, frequently up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs
Sit up to 75% of the time while driving
Work in loud conditions and handle constant vehicle maneuvering
Working Conditions
Outdoor work in all types of weather, including heat, cold, rain, and storms
Exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic/caustic chemicals
Continuous travel on routes away from branch locations
Occasional work in high or precarious locations
Constant exposure to traffic and noisy environments
