The Opportunity

As a Residential Rear-Load Driver, you are the leader of a specialized collection team. Operating a heavy-duty rear-load truck, you will navigate curbside routes in Orange City. This role is perfect for a driver who enjoys a fast-paced, physically active environment and thrives in a team-based setting with another driver.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Team: Work in tandem to ensure efficient, manual curbside pickup of residential waste or recyclables.

• Master the Machine: Expertly operate heavy-duty rear-load trucks and hydraulic packing systems.

• Own Your Route: Safely navigate residential streets, ensuring every neighbor receives our signature "Green Ribbon" service.

• Safety First: Conduct rigorous pre- and post-trip inspections. At GFL, safety isn’t a box to check—it’s our way of life. You are responsible for the safety of yourself, your partner and the public.

• Professional Pride: Maintain a clean vehicle and professional demeanor, acting as the primary GFL brand ambassador on the road.

What You’ll Bring

• The Credentials: A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A or B) and at least 1 year of commercial driving experience (or a CDL school certificate).

• Team Leadership: The ability to communicate effectively and work safely with a partner in a high-speed environment.

• The Strength: Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs repetitively and the stamina to handle the physical demands of manual collection.

• The Skills: Excellent spatial awareness (ability to back up 120+ feet in tight residential spaces) and the ability to recognize unacceptable waste materials.

• The Mindset: A self-starter attitude with the flexibility to adapt to changing weather conditions and route needs.

• The Great Outdoors: Enjoy working outside! You’ll be exposed to various Florida weather conditions and the hum of a high-performance fleet.

• Physical Stamina: Unlike automated roles, this position involves manual labor and frequent movement to assist with vehicle checks and loading as needed.

• Precision Driving: Visual focus and depth perception are critical for navigating high-traffic residential areas and managing the safety of your partner at the rear of the truck.
