As an integral member of our dynamic team, the HR Generalist will be relied upon to support the GFL employment programs across Manitoba. This role will serve a broad range of functions including recruitment and selection, orientation and onboarding, and benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be driven by details and possess a strong knowledge of the human resource practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to expand their experience in the HR field with a rapidly growing company.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection process including the maintenance and development of job descriptions, placing job advertisements, reviewing, screening, and interviewing candidates, and assisting hiring managers with selection of candidates

  • Monitor payroll deadlines and acquire and submit necessary documents prior to deadlines

  • Champion all aspects of new employee orientation including preparation, delivery and follow up

  • Creation and maintenance of electronic employee files

  • Support the administration of the group benefit and RRSP plans including the submission of enrolments and changes

  • Provide general information and assistance internally and externally over the phone, electronically and in person

  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • HR administration experience

  • A College or University degree in Business Administration / Human Resources would be preferred

  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal skills

  • Ability to take initiative to improve HR delivery

  • Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff privacy

  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently

  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail required

  • Attention to detail in all areas of work

  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
