Summary

Reporting to the District Manager, the Site Manager provides the controls and mechanisms necessary to support effective communications, processing and soil treatment operations as well as ensure a safe working environment.  He/she is responsible for the control of the site and all employees and contractors upon the site.

Job Duties

  • Ensure that all employees, visitors and contractors conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, that respects all the safety and all other policy and procedures

  • Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Compliance Approval

  • Supervising sub-contractors and plant personnel

  • Assisting clients and generating quotations

  • Removal or restriction of personnel on the site

  • Shipping and receiving duties

  • Monitoring and improving production levels

  • All sampling and analytical requirements required for compliance and production

  • Managing and verifying all incoming wastes and outgoing treated materials

  • Participating in the Emergency Response and Remedial Action Plan (ERRAP)

  • Be jointly responsible with assisting the District Manager in the yearly Employee Performance Reviews as well as disciplinary reviews and action

  • Providing and arranging all necessary training of  employees as per provincial and federal requirements, in addition to any corporate training matrix

  • Conducting and documenting  regular health and safety meetings

  • Assisting the District Manager in the investigation of any incidents or complaints and preparation of reports

  • Assisting in the coordination and implementation of special projects and programs

  • Coordinating transportation and site work when necessary

  • Updating tracking software daily; responding to complaints in an appropriate and timely manner as dictated by the ECA

  • Authorizing all purchases where applicable and as defined by management

  • Reviewing, approving and submitting payables to accounting

  • Be responsible for the purchase of all equipment and distribution of  processing and safety supplies

  • Maintain accurate and up to date records on material inventory and maintenance programs

  • Work closely and diplomatically with all personnel to maximize overall operational harmony, productivity and efficiency that will ultimately better serve the clients

Qualifications

  • A certificate or diploma in the Environmental/Science required, University degree would be a definite asset
  • Previous experience in construction management is an asset
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude, along with a commitment to staff privacy
  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
  • Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal skills with attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Experience in operating heavy equipment and general maintenance is beneficial, but not mandatory

  • Responsible for compliance and enforcement of all Company policies and procedures with regards to all employees and contractors working within the entire plant and its operations
